How the Check Engine Light Issue is Resolved   

    The Check Engine Light is one of the most unnerving warnings that the car can send to its user, or still worse, the owner. Loose Gas Cap:

Yes, though it is annoying to believe, but the check engine light can get turned on because of a simple reason like a loose gas cap. The gas cap in an engine compartment acts like a seal for the fuel system and maintains the optimum pressure in the fuel tank. When a gas cap loosens or gets damaged it can reduce the gas mileage while increasing the emission rate of the car.

If fixing the gas cap back solves the problem and turns off the check engine light, then you are narrowly saved. But if the light stays on, then only a mechanic can identify the actual issue that is causing this light turn on.

Damaged Oxygen Sensor:

The oxygen sensor in the vehicles is responsible for monitoring the exhaust system for the unburned amount of oxygen. It indicates the efficiency of the engine and if the air-to-fuel ratio is correct. If this oxygen sensor fails, it will not be able to provide the correct data and send it to the onboard computer. Usually the modern vehicles come with two to four oxygen sensors. To know if any of these sensors is causing the check engine light to turn on, a mechanic has to observe the  OBD II code and analyze if it is following the usual parameters.

Here we need to mention that this damage of the oxygen sensors can be caused because of the worn out precious metals that composite the oxygen sensor. Delaying the replacement of damaged oxygen sensors will eventually affect the catalytic converter and cause a still bigger issue which will be costlier to get repaired.

Faulty Catalytic Converter:

The mechanics of the Spokane check engine light concluded that the check engine light will invariably come up, if a serious issue like a catalytic converter fails to perform. The catalytic converter that helps in reducing emissions is placed in the exhaust system. When it gets damaged, it fails to reduce the emission and hence decrease the fuel efficiency in the process.
